The International Church of Cannabis opens on April 20 in Colorado. Elevationists, as the church calls themselves, will be permitted to use marijuana on-site as the church considers marijuana to be a “sacred flower.” Their building is a 113-year old church that was brought back to life.
Use of marijuana at the church allows members to “take the sacred flower to find inspiration and meaning,” according to RT. A patio area features art and sitting space for relaxing. Inside the artwork is vibrant and abstract.
Steve Berke, the landlord, said, “We were looking at condos and apartments. Then ultimately, a group of my friends convinced me to keep this as a community church, but with a little different angle to it.”
The locals have mixed opinions about the new church. Members of the church will have to supply their own marijuana and accessories. The church itself will not provide any marijuana or accessories.
The church opens in a few days despite a few renovations left to tackle, such as handicap accessibility to all areas of the church and an aging boiler system.
