Data compiled by Mordor Intelligence suggests that the global cannabis market was valued at $7.7 Billion in 2016 and projected to reach $65 Billion by 2023. This significant market growth will greatly increase the amount of marijuana-related jobs available and offer higher salaries.
Vangst, a cannabis staffing agency, found that the number of cannabis jobs and average salary has increased rapidly in recent years due to increasing market size. Growth in cannabis job listings have surged 690% since the beginning of 2017.
While average salary of cannabis positions increased 16.1% between 2017 and 2018, the most hired positions in the cannabis industry include:
- Director of Extraction
- Director of Cultivation
- Compliance Manager
- Trimmer
- Budtender (Patient consultant)
- Dispensary Store Manager
- Outside Sales Representative
Director of Cultivation had the largest annual salary range, which is between $45,000 to $250,000.
In the U.S., 31 states have legalized medical cannabis, while recreational cannabis is legal in 9 states and Washington D.C. Canada is legalizing recreational marijuana in October 2018.
