Bernie Sanders has pledged to legalize marijuana nationally on day 1, if elected president. On top of legalizing marijuana federally, he claims he’ll also work on expunging the records of those previously convicted of marijuana possession.
One of the most attractive and attention grabbing remarks has to do with keeping big corporations out of the marijuana industry, Forbes reported. Sanders wants to see a diverse industry where mom-and-pop shops can thrive. He also wants to see the most negatively impacted demographic groups obtain help in entering the marijuana industry via loans and grants.
Sanders said, during a Cedar Rapids rally, that, “We will end the destructive war on drugs. On my first day in office through executive order we will legalize marijuana in every state in this country. We will move forward to expunge the records of those arrested for possession of marijuana. And we will make certain that the legalized marijuana industry is not controlled by a handful of corporations but that those people—the African-American community, the Latino community, the Native American community—those people who have suffered the most will get help in order to make money through a legalized marijuana industry.”
America would certainly be full of happier and more peaceful people if Bernie legalizes marijuana.
