The second annual New Year’s Smoke Out Protest took place in Boise on Sunday. The event was organized by Moms for Marijuana. Idaho continues to struggle to get support from lawmakers to legalize medical marijuana as recent measures have fallen stagnant.
The reason for the rally was to gain signatures for a brand new petition to legalize medical marijuana in Idaho, according to Idaho Statesman. The rally was also intended to put pressure on Governor Butch Otter, whose support of marijuana-oil to treat seizures is lacking.
The rally was held at the Idaho State Capitol Building. It wasn’t a big rally as only 20 supporters came out, but the group is optimistic that they will gain the necessary support to get the signatures their petition needs.
